The sender, the recipients, the time, the subject, the links, bank details and amounts, and the text of the email. Attachments aren’t covered, so keep bank details in the email itself. Anyone can check the signature, with or without Fromensics.
Your key
Fromensics makes an Ed25519 key in this browser. It can’t be exported, it’s never synced, and it’s never sent to us. Each browser profile has its own key. Your contacts confirm it once by comparing your four words, found in Settings → Signing: “When a contact calls to check it’s you, read them these.”
Your promise
Turn on Bank details change only when signed to add a promise under your footer. Contacts who trust you are warned when an unsigned email asks them to change where money goes.
If it can’t sign
You’ll see Not signed yet. with the reason and two buttons, Try again and Send without signing:
- “Fromensics doesn’t know which address you send from. Add it in Settings → Signing.”
- “This computer’s signing key isn’t ready yet. Try again in a moment.”
- “Fromensics couldn’t read who this email is going to, so it can’t sign it for them.”
Turn it on
- Open Settings → Sign emails I send.
- Add the address you send from under Sign as, and the name for your promise.
- Choose Turn on signing.
