Terms of Service

Effective date: 20 August 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Zima Media OÜ, an Estonian private limited company (registry code 17241943, VAT EE102861338), doing business as Fromensics (“Fromensics,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your use of the Fromensics Chrome extension, fromensics.com, proxy.fromensics.com, Fromensics Pro, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By installing, accessing, purchasing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you may bind that organization, and “you” includes it.

1. What Fromensics does

Fromensics helps you investigate a Gmail message you select. It uses deterministic rules, a locally stored threat feed, optional on-device AI, and optional indicator-only network lookups to produce an informational risk report.

Fromensics is a decision-support tool. It is not an email provider, antivirus product, law-enforcement service, legal adviser, financial adviser, or guarantee that a sender or message is safe, malicious, authentic, or fraudulent. Scores and findings may be incomplete, wrong, outdated, or affected by missing headers, unavailable services, adversarial content, or false positives/negatives. You remain responsible for decisions such as clicking links, opening attachments, sending information, blocking a sender, reporting a person, or taking employment, financial, security, or legal action.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms and at least 13 years old or the minimum digital-consent age where you live. If you are under the age of legal majority, a parent or guardian must approve your use. You may not use the Service if applicable law prohibits it.

3. License to use the Service

Subject to these Terms, Fromensics grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the extension for lawful internal or personal email-security purposes. An organization may allow its personnel to use the Service under licenses or plans it validly acquires.

The Service is licensed, not sold. Except where applicable law does not allow the restriction, you may not:

Security research conducted in good faith under a published vulnerability-disclosure policy, if any, is permitted to the extent stated in that policy.

4. Privacy and message data

Our Privacy Policy explains the Service’s data handling. The extension is local-first, but not every operation is offline. It checks for signed threat-feed updates, and optional Private Live-Check sends individual indicators to the providers identified in the Privacy Policy. Do not send Fromensics support an unredacted private message unless we specifically request it and you have authority to share it.

You represent that your use of the Service, including processing messages received through an employer or organization, complies with applicable law, policy, and contractual obligations.

5. Free and Pro features

The core investigation feature is available without a Fromensics account. Fromensics Pro is an optional paid membership that may include privacy-proxy lookups, premium feed coverage, extended local history, or other features identified at checkout.

Feature descriptions, limits, prices, taxes, and availability may change prospectively. We will not materially reduce a prepaid feature during its paid term without a remedy required by law or stated at purchase. Some features depend on Chrome, Gmail, device capabilities, internet access, or third-party services and may not work on every device.

6. Purchases, renewal, cancellation, and refunds

Pro checkout and membership administration are provided through Whop. Fromensics, not Google or the Chrome Web Store, is responsible for the paid Service. Whop’s terms and privacy policy also apply to its checkout and account services.

Before purchase, the checkout page will state the price, billing interval, taxes if applicable, and whether the membership renews automatically. If you purchase an automatically renewing plan, you authorize recurring charges until cancellation. You may cancel through Whop’s membership settings. Unless the checkout states otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal and Pro remains available through the end of the paid billing period.

Refund policy. If you are a consumer and this is your first Fromensics Pro purchase, you may request a full refund within 14 days of the initial charge by emailing billing@fromensics.com, unless the purchase was obtained through abuse or the privacy proxy was used far beyond ordinary personal use. We will also provide any refund required by applicable law, including EU, EEA, and UK consumer withdrawal rights where they still apply.

If checkout asked you to consent to immediate performance of digital content and to waive withdrawal to the extent permitted, that waiver applies only as allowed by mandatory consumer law.

Except under this refund policy or mandatory law, fees are non-refundable and there are no credits for partial billing periods. You are responsible for accurate billing information, taxes not collected at checkout, and charges authorized through your account. Contact billing@fromensics.com for a billing problem before initiating a chargeback so we can try to resolve it.

7. License keys

Keep your license key confidential. You may use it only within the device or seat limits of the purchased plan. You are responsible for activity performed with your key until you notify us of suspected compromise. We may revoke, rotate, or limit a key used fraudulently, shared beyond plan limits, subjected to automated abuse, refunded, charged back, or associated with a cancelled or invalid membership.

8. Third-party services

The Service interoperates with Gmail and Chrome and may use Cloudflare, Vercel, Upstash, Whop, Google Public DNS, Cloudflare DNS, IANA, RDAP.org, authoritative RDAP operators, and threat-intelligence sources. Their services are governed by their own terms and policies. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party availability, content, decisions, or data practices. The names Google, Gmail, Chrome, Gemini, Whop, Cloudflare, and other third parties belong to their owners; their use does not imply endorsement.

9. Threat intelligence and reports

Threat-feed entries and reports may be based on public, licensed, curated, derived, or time-limited indicators. An indicator match does not necessarily prove that a person or organization acted maliciously; domains and infrastructure can be shared, reassigned, spoofed, or compromised.

You may use a report for your own security decision-making, but you must preserve appropriate context and may not publish it in a misleading or defamatory way. Fromensics does not currently operate a public sender-classification marketplace. If you believe a threat-feed entry about a domain you control is wrong, contact privacy@fromensics.com.

10. Feedback

If you send suggestions or feedback, you grant Fromensics a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use it without restriction or compensation. This does not give us a license to use private message content beyond the specific support purpose for which you supplied it.

11. Intellectual property

Fromensics and its licensors own the Service, software, design, branding, documentation, compiled feeds, and related intellectual property, excluding third-party content and open-source components. These Terms do not transfer ownership. Open-source components are governed by their applicable licenses.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and remove the extension at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to hosted or paid features if you materially breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, fail to pay, abuse infrastructure, or if continued service becomes unlawful. When practical, we will give notice and an opportunity to cure.

After termination, your license ends. Terms that by nature should survive do survive, including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions. Local data may remain in your Chrome profile until you clear it or remove the extension.

13. Changes and availability

We may modify, update, or discontinue the Service. We will provide reasonable notice of a material adverse change to a paid Service when practical. We may make immediate changes for security, legal, or third-party platform reasons.

We may update these Terms prospectively. We will post the revised Terms and effective date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms, unless applicable law requires express consent.

14. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” FROMENSICS AND ITS LICENSORS DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, SECURITY, AND WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR ABLE TO DETECT OR CORRECT EVERY THREAT.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FROMENSICS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, OR SECURITY INCIDENTS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THEIR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF EUR 100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FROMENSICS FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY.

These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, willful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or mandatory consumer rights.

16. Indemnity

If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you will defend and indemnify Fromensics and its affiliates against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use, your content submitted to us, or your material breach of these Terms. This section does not apply to consumers where prohibited by law.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Tallinn, Estonia (Harju County Court) will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may have the right to bring claims in their country of residence and retain all mandatory local protections.

Before filing a claim, contact legal@fromensics.com and provide a brief description of the dispute. The parties will try in good faith for 30 days to resolve it informally. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive class or collective actions except where such a waiver is permitted and separately agreed.

18. General

These Terms and incorporated policies are the entire agreement about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only as necessary and the rest remains effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, reorganization, or asset transfer. No third party is a beneficiary of these Terms.
