Limited Use
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This page is the Chrome Web Store Limited Use statement for Fromensics. It is not legal advice. The full privacy policy is at fromensics.com/privacy.
Fromensics’ single purpose is sender investigation for the Gmail message you select. We collect, use, and transmit only what is needed for that disclosed purpose.
What we collect
After you click Investigate Sender, the extension reads the open Gmail page on your device (sender, subject, visible body and links, attachment names if shown, and mailed-by / signed-by only if you already expanded message details). That is user data under Chrome Web Store policy even though we do not use the Gmail API.
How it is used
That data is used only to generate an investigation report on your device (deterministic rules, optional Chrome on-device AI, optional local threat feed, optional indicator-only live lookups you enable).
What we do not do
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not use it for advertising.
- We do not provide it to data brokers.
- We do not use it to credit-score people or for unrelated product training.
- We do not operate a central database of analyzed emails.
Transfers
Strict local mode does not upload the email. Optional Private live-check may send a single
indicator (for example a domain) to DNS or RDAP services, or — with Fromensics Pro — to
https://proxy.fromensics.com. Optional license validation sends only the
license key and extension version. Chrome may download Gemini Nano for on-device analysis;
Fromensics servers do not receive the email for that path.
Google APIs
This version reads the open Gmail page after a user click and does not call Google APIs. If a later version uses information received from Google APIs, that use will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
